Chiropractic Information: Things You Should Know

January 22, 2008 1:39 pm

In our last post we informed you about what a chiropractor does and how a they approach treatment. There are a few basic things that are important for you to know after you are first introduced to what a chiropractor is. Although there is a surplus of information that I could go into about chiropractors and such; I want to start off slow as to bring you, the reader, into understanding chiropractic to the fullest extent. This post will be covering a couple terms that are used frequently when talking about chiropractic.

Your body works very well at maintaining itself. Since you were born your body has been telling itself how fast to breathe, when to breathe, when and how fast to pump blood, etc. Chiropractors call this Innate Intelligence, which basically means that your body knows how to do things since birth that can’t and aren’t taught. The reason this word is associated with chiropractors is that they believe that if there is something interfering with the transmission of information from your innate intelligence to your body, this is what causes your body to not function properly.

Your body transmits information down your spinal column to various parts of your body. This can sometimes become interrupted by an out of place spinal bone. This causes your body to stop functioning at its optimum levels. A bone that is out of place and causing interference is called a subluxation. This is where the spinal adjustment comes in. Chiropractors use the spinal adjustment to allow the body to repair itself. We will talk more about the spinal adjustment in a later post. Locating and correcting subluxations is the sole purpose for a chiropractor. To schedule a free chiro exam please visit Free Chiro Exam and schedule yours today.
